PHYSIOTHERAPY

Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone has been affected by injury, illness or disability. It can be very helpful to support and heal a wide range of conditions and also as a preventative to reduce the risk of injury or illness in the future.

It takes a holistic and lifestyle, person centred approach involving the client directly in their own care.

Physiotherapy can be helpful for people of all ages with a wide range of health conditions, including problems affecting:

  • Bones, joints and soft tissue – such as back, neck, shoulder pain and sports injuries

  • Acute (recent) and chronic (that have been present for months or years) conditions

  • For general aches and pains

  • Chronic pain management

  • Muscle imbalance

  • Poor posture

  • Anxiety, stress and depression

  • Respiratory problems e.g. asthma

  • Neurological conditions e.g. Multiple sclerosis, M.E., Parkinson’s disease

  • Post-operative rehabilitation e.g. hip/knee/shoulder replacements

  • Osteo and Rheumatoid Arthritis

Each session is an hour long. The initial session will involve taking a detailed case history, an assessment to highlight the current issues and problems and then a treatment plan will be discussed and agreed on between the practitioner and client.

It is quite likely that the client will be asked to remove items of clothing so that the problem area is more easily assessed. If it is a lower limb area and you are more comfortable in shorts then please do bring to the session.

Generally, most clients will receive a treatment in the first session, however there are some circumstances where this may be delayed until the second session. This may include where the Physiotherapist feels that rehabilitation exercises are the most beneficial for the patient and a detailed program needs to be taught and understood for maximum effective outcome.

Treatments are carefully and individually considered for each client with clinical reasoning and with all their needs taken into consideration.

Treatment may include the following either on its own or as a combination for which ever will support recovery in the most effective and efficient way:

  • Mobilisation techniques

  • Soft Tissue work; including myofascial and trigger point Therapy

  • Medical Acupuncture

  • Cranial-Sacral therapy techniques

  • Yoga Practices and principles

  • Pilates

  • Coaching techniques

Suzy’s unique approach to treatments helps support each client’ individual needs, she is passionate about empowering people to help them themselves and be a co-creator on their healing journey.
