ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is a safe and established treatment for a large number of health conditions. It is a time-honoured Oriental system of healing with a clinical history of over 3000 years, and which applies the principles of Classical Chinese philosophy to Medicine and sees mankind as an integral part of nature.

Acupuncture recognises a vital energy known as Qi which lies behind all life forms and life processes.  Qi flows throughout the body in channels or meridians and collaterals and it is on these channels that acupuncture points are found.

By looking at the internal conditions of the patient, the practitioner aims to correct imbalances in the body through the insertion of a few very fine needles into specific points on the body.  The points chosen are unique to each individual’s health and will stimulate the body’s own powerful healing and rebalancing response from the inside out, to help restore a person to a state of good health and emotional wellbeing.

Acupuncture is a gentle, enjoyable and relaxing treatment to experience.

Common symptoms treated by acupuncture include:

  • anxiety, depression, stress

  • nausea, digestive issues

  • allergies

  • headache and migraines

  • blood pressure imbalances

  • musculoskeletal pain

  • fatigue

  • sleep issues

  • hormonal imbalances, all aspects of women’s health

  • nervous system disorders

  • immune system support

  • chronic symptoms arising from long term conditions.

‘The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step’ Lao Tzu

Rebecca has worked within the natural medicine fields for over 25 years, and passionately believes in the power of nature and energetic medicine to support individuals on their journey to physical, emotional and spiritual health and wellness.

First training in Aromatherapy in 1995, her course combined essential oils and Chinese Medicine philosophy and diagnosis, and this unique combination has been at the core of her life and practice since.  She later graduated in Acupuncture at the International College of Oriental Medicine (ICOM) with a First Class BSc (Hons) degree, and went on to teach at the college for 6 years.

Rebecca practices Classical Chinese Medicine and incorporates different approaches, including Stems and Branches, an ancient astrological approach to health.  What she reads through her hands about the balance of energies also deeply guides her treatment choices, and by addressing the root cause longer lasting changes can be made.

Treatments are unique to each individual. The combined energetics of specific Acupuncture points and highest purity Essential Oils deepen and enhance therapeutic effects, and treatments may also include Gua Sha, Cupping or Moxibustion where appropriate. Often unique oil blends are provided to support the healing process at home.   Whichever approach is used, at the core of all Rebecca’s treatments is a belief that the body has an innate wisdom to heal. Having practised Reiki for over 20 years, she incorporates energetic healing into many of her treatments.

Over her years in practice Rebecca has worked holistically with a wide variety of pathologies, and continues to regularly attend courses and study groups, remaining deeply immersed in the ancient wisdom of Chinese Medicine. Although working with and supporting patients across all aspects of health, she is particularly drawn to womens’ health, particularly menopause; to emotional and spiritual wellbeing; to supporting people through chronic illness or life challenges in whatever form they take; and to exploring the mind-body connection in relation to health and wellbeing.  She also has a busy children’s practice, supporting children’s physical, emotional and behavioural wellbeing and incorporating a number of non-needle techniques (gua sha, flash cupping, shonishin, acupressure massage, paediatric tui na, electro acupressure) where needed.

Rebecca treats at The Anderida Practice, the ICOM Clinic in East Grinstead and offers online consultation.

Alongside her practice, she teaches and educates both one to one and in larger classes on natural health and the use of essential oils, runs online programmes and contributes at events. She is passionate about supporting others to become empowered in managing health naturally from within the home, and has a large community of people she supports with ongoing natural health education.
