Dr Hazel Rayner
AFBPsS, CPsychol, PsychD, BA(Hons)
Hazel is an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist and Chartered Psychologist with 24 years’ NHS experience of working with children, adolescents, adults and families.
Hazel draws from a range of psychological therapies including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion-Focused approaches and Eco-Psychological practices, which harness the scientifically evidenced healing effects of our connection with nature to restore and enhance our wellbeing. Hazel can also provide parental consultation and family work.
Recognising that periods of personal or family transition, upheaval, stress and recovery can often transform into phases of rich personal growth and breakthrough, Hazel’s approach aims to help people connect with the essence of who they (or their child) are, as well as providing effective help to overcome difficulties. Her in-depth approach to assessment gets to the heart of the matter to reach a shared understanding (called a “formulation”) of what has led to any patterns of difficulty, which then informs personally-tailored and evidence- based psychological intervention and therapy.
Hazel can help with a wide range of psychological difficulties in adults, children and adolescents. She has areas of specialist interest in:
Psychological trauma (including “complex” and childhood trauma);
Coping with adverse life events and experiences;
Perimenopause and menopause;
Stress, burnout and moral injury;
Depression, low mood, low self-esteem and confidence;
Anxiety including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety and phobias.
As well as being registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), Hazel is an Associate Fellow and full member of the British Psychological Society and Division of Clinical Psychology.
