The Impact of Stress - A Powerful Reminder
Sam Rehan, Laughter Yoga/Laughter Therapy, Stress Management, Craniosacral Therapist, shares with you a profound wellness insight.
“A mental health worker shared and asked a question.
How heavy is a cup of water?
There could be lots of answers. But actually, what's really important to remember is, how long are you holding a cup of water or a mug of water?
Are you holding it for a minute, an hour or even a day?
If it's a minute, it's easy to hold a mug of water for a minute.
An hour more difficult, some eggs a day - Incredibly difficult.
Perhaps your arm will become numb or even paralysed.
Now swap that out for holding stress. If you're holding stress for a minute, how heavy will it feel?
You'll be be able to manage an hour again. There might be some impact on some how you're feeling, but if you hold it for a day, perhaps impact on your mental and physical health, it will affect the type of decisions you're making, your concentration and focus. So it's a wonderful analogy to think about.
How often are you stopping to take care of your stress and anxiety?
Using short wellness adjustments allows you to energise and cope with that stress and anxiety and make that weight lighter for longer periods of time.”
