Slow Down, Tune In – Ayurvedic Yoga at the Practice

This week, we’re honouring that connection through yoga. Whether you’re returning to your mat or exploring something new, yoga offers us a chance to listen inward, soften the edges of stress, and find steadiness amidst change.

We’re especially excited to share Kim’s Ayurvedic Yoga classes, which weave together the healing traditions of Ayurveda and Yoga into a practice that supports balance across body, mind and spirit. Read on for more about her gentle, grounding approach and how to join in this season.

Ayurvedic Yoga with Kriya

Ayurvedic Yoga or AyuYoga combines the sister sciences of Ayurveda and Yoga. Ayurveda is the ancient traditional herbal medicine of India. A comprehensive system of holistic healthcare, it awakens the body’s inherent natural intelligence, to restore balance and maintain optimum health.

Ayurveda is the science of self-healing on a physical level and Yoga is the application of Vedic wisdom for self realisation on a spiritual level. Together they complement one another celebrating the cycle of life through nature’s rhythms offering practical tools to slow down, support, nourish and re-balance our lives. These tools include lifestyle and dietary adjustments, body work and herbal medicine aligned with the daily, monthly and earth season rhythms, throughout all the seasons of our lives.

Ayurvedic Yoga with Kriya aims to combine ancient techniques to develop lifestyle practices to integrate into our daily lives to improve our quality of life. These techniques include yogasana, pranayama, mudra, bandha, mantra, pratyahara and meditation practices aligned with nature’s rhythms. Central to Ayurveda is an understanding of the tridoshic theory to explore lifestyle adaptions to support an individual’s unique body and mind constitution.

Current Student testimonials:

‘Kim’s yoga sessions are comprehensive and deeply life-affirming. It’s incredible to witness how she weaves together a brief explanation of the philosophy behind our practice with breathwork, chanting, a full yoga sequence that follows the rhythms of nature, and yoga nidra. These sessions ground me for the week ahead, and I absolutely love them. Kim is an outstanding teacher with decades of experience’ - Patricia P

‘I have been joining Kim's yoga classes for over 20 years. I find Kim's teaching to be a fine balance between challenging and relaxing. Kim always puts the yoga stretches into the context of the ancient wisdom that created them. The classes are varied according to the time of year and the lunar cycle so they are always fresh and informative’ - Mark R
