Women's Health and the Healing Power of Mizan Therapy

As women, our bodies are beautifully complex and deserve our care and attention. Yet in the busyness of life, it’s easy to overlook our own needs. Taking time to nurture ourselves is not just a luxury—it is essential for our health and wellbeing.

Mizan Therapy is a powerful and gentle approach to supporting women's health. This holistic therapy focuses on the womb and abdominal area, addressing issues such as menstrual irregularities, digestive discomfort, fibroids, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, fertility challenges, and symptoms of menopause. By combining traditional healing techniques with modern insights, Mizan Therapy restores balance and encourages the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

The Importance of Self-Care for Women

Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s a way of replenishing your energy and reconnecting with yourself. When women take time to care for their physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, they build resilience, enhance their health, and strengthen their ability to support others. Here are some simple yet effective self-care practices:

  • Regular Movement: Whether it’s yoga, walking, or dancing, moving your body helps to reduce stress, improve circulation, and support hormonal balance.

  • Womb Massage: Gentle abdominal self-massage can promote blood flow, ease tension, and connect you to your womb’s wisdom.

  • Mindful Rest: Prioritise sleep and take moments throughout the day to rest, breathe deeply, and center yourself.

  • Nourishing Foods: Focus on whole, nutrient-rich foods to support your menstrual cycle and overall health.

  • Creative Expression: Paint, write, sing, or engage in any activity that brings you joy and allows you to express your inner self.

  • Connecting with Nature: Spend time outdoors to ground yourself and align with the rhythms of the earth.

Meet Terri, Our Mizan Therapist

We are proud to introduce Terri, an experienced and compassionate Mizan therapist at our clinic. Terri is passionate about supporting women through every stage of life, from menstruation to menopause and beyond. She brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding to her practice, helping women feel seen, heard, and empowered in their healing journey.

Terri’s work extends beyond the treatment room. She has written a heartfelt article for Juno Magazine, Issue 93, titled “Voice of a Grandparent,” where she reflects on the joys and challenges of being a grandmother and the profound connection she shares with her family. Her words capture the essence of her nurturing spirit:

“I am Terri. It was an honour and a blessing to witness my granddaughter being born. My daughter, in her full power, trusting in her own body, intuition and wisdom, and the wisdom of her baby.

I am in awe of my daughter's mothering, her sense of presence and her patience, and most of all, the wise choices she makes. I love that we live together — three generations in one house. Of course, there are times when it is not easy, when we fall into our habitual patterns, yet most of the time, life in our home is harmonious. We sing and dance, we paint and draw, we practise yoga, read books, cook and walk in the forest. I feel happy, alive and connected.

My granddaughter benefits from a close relationship with an elder, I benefit from the joy of spending almost every day with the youngest member of my family, and my daughter benefits by having a hands-on grandmother available to help with childcare

When I am not with my family, I am an Anytime Anywhere Meditation teacher, a postpartum doula and a Mizan Therapy womb healer. I work with women who have menstruation issues, digestive problems, fibroids, polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, difficult menopause, and those seeking help with fertility.

We are a family of healers, all supporting one another. My granddaughter is the medicine. Children are more connected to simplicity, to their innate wellbeing, to who they really are.

Being with my granddaughter reminds me to keep connecting with my own sense of wellbeing, and to my natural qualities of awareness, love, compassion and wisdom. The power of a grandmother's love can heal many things. It is unconditional, warm, joyful, spacious and beautiful. It is that kind of love I aspire to radiate out into the world to reach all beings without exception.”
